Gridiron Victoria Week 13 – 30/31 July

Week 13 and with the playoffs on the horizon we have another round of divisional games with some upsets and exciting finishes!

On Saturday we kicked things off in with the Ballarat Pioneers losing to the Croydon Rangers2 26-7. The home teams’ good fortune continued as the division 1 Rangers defeated the Berwick Miners 55-6.

On Sunday in Footscray, the Monash Barbarians pulled off a great win 16-0 over the Melbourne Uni Royals.

In the afternoon, the Western Crusaders were defeated by the Bay City Buccaneers 35-12 – locking the Buccs into the top 2 and setting up a week 15 showdown for the final play off spot between the Crusaders and Warriors.

Also on Sunday down in Gippsland, the Gladiators hosted the Northern Raiders and pulled off a final drive hail mary touchdown to win 6-0.

Gridiron Victoria Week 12 – 24th July

Week 12 of the 2011 Gridiron Victoria season and another week of cross-divisional games.

In Berwick, the Croydon Rangers defeated the Monash Barbarians 66-0, followed by the home town Miners who were too strong for the division 2 Rangers2 22-12.

Over in Reservoir, the Monash Warriors defeated the Melbourne Uni Royals 35-0, followed by the home town Northern Raiders who were defeated by the Western Crusaders 44-0.

Gridiron Victoria Week 11 – 16/17 July

Week 11 of the 2011 Gridiron Victoria season and things are getting really interesting with four teams still in the mix for the final three playoff spots with four weeks to go.

On Saturday, another rematch of 2010 Vic Bowl between the home town Bay City Buccaneers and the Monash Warriors saw the Buccs get the win 16-0. Later in the day the Melbourne Uni Royals defeated the Ballarat Pioneers 28-13.

On Sunday morning in Footscray the Monash Barbarians faced the Gippsland Gladiators and the Gladiators kept their playoff dreams alive with an 18-0 win.

Later in the day, the Western Crusaders and the Croydon Rangers went to battle with the visiting Rangers getting the win 20-0.

With four rounds to go, the Rangers and Buccs are assured a top two finish, whilst the Crusaders and Warriors battle for the final division one playoff spot.

In division two, the Raiders are assured a finals appearance, whilst the Rangers2, Royals and Gladiators can all finish as high as second.

Gridiron Victoria Week 10 – 10 July

Week 10 of the 2011 Gridiron Victoria season and another round of cross-divisional games (interim scores).

In Footscray, the Monash Warriors faced the Gippsland Gladiators in the morning and the defending champions registered a big 72-2 win over the new team.

In the afternoon the Western Crusaders hosted the Croydon Rangers2, the home team getting the win 48-8.

Down in Berwick, the early game featured the Monash Barbarians and the Bay City Buccaneers, with the Buccs registering the highest score of the year with an 84-0 victory.

Later in the day the hotly anticipated clash between the Berwick Miners (currently last in div 1) and the Northern Raiders (currently atop div 2) saw the Miners get the win 26-0.

Gridiron Victoria Week 9 – 2/3 July

Week 9 of the 2011 season and some very intriguing match ups with enormous implications for the play offs only 6 weeks away.

Saturday 2nd July we headed to Corio where the Bay City Buccaneers hosted the league leading Croydon Rangers. With top spot essentially on the line and very little splitting these two sides, it ended in a thrilling draw 14-14 with the Rangers now holding the tiebreaker.

Following this game the Monash Barbarians went up against the Croydon Rangers2, with the Rangers2 taking control early and winning easily 38-6.

On Sunday morning at Monash University Clayton, the hometown Warriors hosted the Berwick Miners and motored to a big win 42-12, whilst later in the day the Melbourne Uni Royals and the Gippsland Gladiators fought it out to the wire with a thrilling 14- 13 win to the Royals.

Also on Sunday afternoon in Reservoir, the Northern Raiders hosted the Ballarat Pioneers and confirmed their status as the division 2 pacesetter with a 19-3 victory.
