The Warriors Gridiron Club was founded in 1987 by the late James White. Originally named the Nunawading Warriors, the club won the minor premiership in 1988, however were eliminated in the finals series with two consecutive losses. The Warriors would have to wait a decade before they returned to the finals series in 1998 with a semi final loss to the now defunct Banyule Panthers. From this point, the Warriors established themselves as the most successful club in Gridiron Victoria history, going on to play finals football every year except 2003 and winning 10 of the 13 Vicbowls they have contested since 2000.
The Warriors performed a 3-peat of State Championships twice, becoming the first club to accomplish this feat. They completed their latest 3-peat from 2012-2014 with their first 3-peat from 2008-2010. They now look to match the record of four consecutive Vicbowls in 2015, a record the Outlaws own from Vicbowl I to Vicbowl IV.
The Warriors have grown to be the biggest club in Gridiron Victoria.
The Warriors are also the first club to win both divisional championships in 2013 with the Barbarians defeating the Melbourne Uni Royals for the Division II Championship and the Warriors defeating the Geelong Buccaneers for the Division II Vicbowl.
The Warriors Junior program has also had great success in winning in 2003 and most recently in 2009 Junior Championship. In recent years two Warriors juniors have received full football scholarships at Division 1 US colleges. This includes Adam Gotsis. Former 2nd round draft pick by the Denver Broncos.
The clubs is always looking for new players off all shapes and sizes, coaches and support staff.
