Frequently Asked Questions

How far will I need to travel for games?

Most games are played within the greater Melbourne area, with occasional travel to regional centers like Geelong, Ballarat, and Bendigo. Home and away games are scheduled to minimize travel where possible. For junior competitions, games are typically clustered in geographic zones to reduce travel requirements for families.

When does the season run?

The main Gridiron Victoria season runs from October to March, with pre-season training typically starting in August. Youth programs may operate on different schedules, with some clubs offering year-round development programs. The season includes regular season games, playoffs, and championships, with a short break over the Christmas/New Year period.

What age groups are available?

Gridiron Victoria offers programs for various age groups:

  • Junior (12-15 years) – Modified contact rules
  • Youth (16-19 years) – Full contact
  • Senior Men (18+ years) – Full contact
  • Women (16+ years) – Both contact and flag football options

Not all clubs offer all age divisions, so check with your local club for specific programs.
